Counselling & Psychotherapy

I aim to offer a safe and confidential space in which to work out and explore what may be troubling you.

What is Counselling?

In Counselling I focus more on your life in the present and perhaps a specific issue that is causing distress such as bereavement or relationship breakdown.

What is Psychotherapy?

In Psychotherapy I look more at the whole person, connecting their past and present life experiences. I think in terms of a Developmental model looking at the impact of early relationships on where we find ourselves in the present. It is sometimes useful to explore how the past and present influence each other and how we have come to view the world around us and act in it.

How I Work

Whether you have Counselling or Psychotherapy and short or long term, I place importance on the establishment of a good working therapeutic relationship and I use this relationship in a dynamic and mutual way to inform the process. Doing this can help to put experiences and emotions into words and increase understanding affording the possibility of news ways of being and experiencing the world around us.
